The Importance of Goal Setting
Goals give you:
You were born for a purpose, but sometimes the monotonous daily tasks cloud out that reality. Journaling helps you focus on what is really important in life. It forces you reflect on your day and determine what actions or thoughts are getting you closer to your goal and which ones are driving you away from it. Journaling should serve as a sort of compass that shows whether or not you are heading in the right direction – but how do you know which direction to go? That is where goals come in. Goals give you a destination.
Goal setting is one of (if not THE) key to success. As you determine what your goals should be, you will also begin to find your life purpose. That purpose will give you direction and a reason to get out of bed in the mornings.
Direction will give you focus. You will no longer wake up and wonder what to do with your day. You begin to see how valuable your time is and you won’t want to waste it on things that aren’t bringing you closer to your ideal life.
Did you know that depression and stress often times come from a lack of feeling in control? Well, now that you have a purpose, direction, and focus, you will begin to feel more in control of your life. You are no longer letting the day control you! With every small, daily goal you meet, you begin to see that all of those things you’ve dreamed that your life could be are actually coming into being or at least you’re realizing that they are attainable. Once you see that you have the ability to take your life in whatever direction you choose, you will be unstoppable.
With the achievement of your daily goals comes even more motivation. Things like saying “no” to that sugary treat, going to the gym even when you don’t feel like it, setting aside twenty minutes to read that self-improvement book, or completing a page of your journal – every success big or small, is adding to your confidence level. And the more confidence you have, the better you feel – and the better you feel, the more you achieve.
Set goals. Meet goals. Achieve success.
